{Celebrate} Byron's 9th Birthday Pizza & Movie Night

Last week was Byron's Birthday and he celebrated by having a Pizza and Movie Night with his friends at home!  I wanted to make it special by creating a Candy & Snack Bar for the kids so they could help themselves to popular Movie snacks such as Popcorn, Jaffa's, Pick n Mix, Maltesers, Choc Honeycomb, snakes and mini coca cola bottles.   l provided some noodle boxes which l decorated with some red & white Ribbon and Printables from Poshtique Designs.

Misty from Poshtique Designs is wonderful and l used her Movie Birthday Printables http://www.etsy.com/listing/69664236/movie-birthday-party-printable-movie which come with a banner, ticket invitations, labels and 2" circles which l featured throughout the party.  I started with the invitations a few weeks prior to the party and created some excitement by giving each child a Jumbo box of popcorn with their ticket invitation to get them all in the mood!

{Celebrate} Byron's 9th Birthday Breakfast!

My sweet son turned 9 last Friday and it is one of our family traditions to make the kids breakfast in our bed on their birthdays!!  I think that the children enjoy this more than the presents as it makes them feel very special and grown up!

Byron is normally a eggs benedict type of lad but that is normally the domain of my husband! (I need to leave hubby with something that he only cooks!! hahahaha!)  This year Byron's birthday was on a Friday so unfortunately due to work commitments my hubby could not make him breakfast so it was left up to me to make Byron Breakfast in bed!

So l made him ham and cheese croissants with an iced chocolate and you can see by the smile on his face he quite enjoyed them and by the meager crumbs left on the plate l would say Breakfast was a success!

We had a lovely day considering Byron was not feeling too well!!  We have all been battling with the flu for the past week but we are now on the mend!  In the evening Byron had his friends over for a Pizza and Movie Night and I will post some pictures from his party soon.

{Bake} Old Skool Toffee Apples for School!

A couple of weeks ago the kids asked me what treats l used to eat as a child??  It brought back many a memories of grocery shopping with my Mum on a Thursday night and choosing either a Chocolate Freddo or a Toffee Apple as a special treat!  Of course l always chose the Toffee Apple as it lasted longer and so l shared this little story with my children who looked at me rather bewildered and said "Mum, What is a Toffee Apple??"  Oh my, what had the modern world come to where children no longer knew what a toffee apple was??  I was flabergasted that l had never shared these special treats from my childhood and so the search was on to try and buy the kids a toffee apple and to my dismay l could not find a local shop that sold them!!  So what did l do??  I decided to make them and it gave me an excuse to use the very snazzy new candy thermometer l bought a couple of weeks back to replace my glass one which broke when we did the kitchen renovation.
